Artist Statement
Sarah’s work focuses on the subject of the female. The characters in her paintings are often mysterious, powerful and at the same time fragile. Working in oils, with layers of colours, Sarah uses a painterly language to express the feelings of the women she paints. The viewer is drawn into the story, and by using their own experiences they can interpret the painting with their own narrative, exploring the psychological, physical and emotional context of the characters depicted.
